Solituda I was never one to be particularly keen on anything to do with the computer, but one of many nights of insomnia I decided to occupy my time by playing the one game that my brother had installed for us on the computer. It was there that I met him. It was his handle that initially attracted me to him. We exchanged ICQ numbers and quickly became confidantes. We'd meet daily online, play the game together, chat on ICQ, email each other . . . Then we began calling each other. We used to joke about how silly all this was and how we were never going to meet, and how ill-suited we were for one another. I live in Canada and he's from the southern United States. This was just going to be temporary. Then something changed. As we began to care more deeply for each other we realized how important it was for us to finally be able to touch each other's flesh. I ended up going to see him over the Christmas holidays and after the initial awkwardness it was magic. The chemistry, the sparks, the comfort . . . everything that I had ever been looking for. He came to visit me a couple months later. I never knew that anyone existed that was so well suited for me. We could talk about anything and everything with one another. Unfortunately, due to the extreme distance between us, and the fact that both of us are students, things are not working out right now. However, this is an experience that I will never forget. Internet relationships are difficult. Especially when there are thousands of miles separating you. But there is nothing I regret from my experience. You learn so much about someone through the way that they write. You cross barriers that you could never cross when actually face to face with another individual. You get to know the person in a way that is hard to do in person. I would never do this again. I love him mind, body and soul.
