Do Women Want Nice Guys?~ Cerissa ~ You know, it cracks me up when I read these ads in which men are saying that women don't really want nice guys. They say that they know this because they are themselves "nice guys" and women don't want them. Nice guys?? Is there a man in the world who does not consider himself a nice guy? I dated a nice guy once. I know he was a nice guy because he told me so himself. Many times. In fact, in opening an anonymous screen name, his name of choice was NiceGuy. The fact that his idea of a good time was beating women with a belt didn't change this self-image. One has to assume that he left very nice welts. My ex-husband is a nice guy. Just ask him, he'll tell you. And in many ways he is that. He will, for example, almost always stop to help a motorist whose car has broken down. Especially if the motorist in question is a pretty woman. When he didn't get his own way at work, though, he threatened to kill his boss' son. Yep. Pretty damn nice guy, all right!! So this guy in the ad says that he is a nice guy but women spurn him, convincing him that women want jerks. He says he knows he's a nice guy because he opens women's doors for them and brings flowers. You have to wonder what else he does. Maybe he sticks soda straws up his nose to demonstrate his fine sense of humor. Maybe he demonstrates his down to earth good nature by farting out Dixie after dinner. And maybe he is so nice that when he "realizes" that women really want an abusive jerk, he's more than willing to comply. |
