Atreides' Pop Quiz for Females

As you are no doubt already aware -- at least, if you have perused other parts of this site -- I was for some time been classified as "single and looking." And, one of the ways of "looking" is through "personals" ads. In particular, on the Internet.

A while back I decided to try something different. Instead of the usual boring litany of phrases such as "I like music" (gee, who doesn't?), in one great caffeinated rush I composed a Pop Quiz for Females (sorry, guys) and fired it off to a couple of Usenet newsgroups. It wound up getting a great response (for a male, at least), got plagiarized at least once, and nearly wore my fingers down to the knuckles trying to properly reply to everyone.

In fact, while great as an "ice-breaker," I initially thought it was only so-so as an ad. Let's face it -- I was having fun asking the questions, and the women were having fun answering them. It didn't provide too many hard facts about the respondent, except that she probably shared my admittedly slightly warped sense of humor. Then again, that can't be too bad a start, could it?

I met a number of the women who responded in person (I dare not say "in the flesh"), after a suitable "e-mail courtship." And, managed to have finally stumbled across Ms. Right. But, I enjoyed some of the answers I got so much that I wanted to share them with you. Hence, these pages.

There were twenty-five questions. For the sake of your modem, they're listed five to a page. The original question is on the left, with the answers on the right. By the way, those answers are listed roughly in order of the frequency of responses, with just a few liberties taken to enhance your viewing pleasure. My comments are in italics. So . . . enjoy!
